Final Manchester League x-country race



The last of this year's Manchester League x-country series took place on the traditional Heaton Park course. The course is a good test with a mixture of short and long hills. Conditions underfoot were slippy with the ground being hard underfoot with recent raining giving it a slippy surface.

 

In the U11 race, the boys team had their best position in the series finishing 4th. Odhran Nash has been consistent all season and picked up another 13th place to move him to 11th overall at the end of the series. Behind Odhran the group are progressing well and it was Henry Hooper-Loudon 20th and Sebastian Harding 22nd who backed Odhran up today. 

 

The U13 boys also finished the winter series off with their best team result finishing 3rd on the day moving the team up to 5th team overall. Thomas Fotheringham finished 10th with Stan Barber (14), Emanuele Calisti (16) and Sebastian White (36) close behind. Thomas and Stan finishing the season 9th and 11th overall Individual.

 

In the girls race Cora Black was 12th and Isolde Powell 36th from a field of 65 girls, with Cora finishing the season 12th overall.

 

In the U15 Boys race Oliver Davenport led the team home to a very close 3rd place the team only 5 points off winning. Behind Oliver (5th), the team had 8 runners in the top 22 runners, Arlo Mander-Tullius (8), Thomas Daly (12), Sam Ingleby-Castleton (18), Logan Grocott (19), Oscar Bundy (20), Joe Thomas (21) and Ethan O’Brien (22). This packing gave Trafford B team 5th place on the day and overall in the series Trafford A team were 2nd and Trafford B team 5th. Oliver Davenport (4th) and Arlo Mander-Tullius (5th) just missing out on the top 3 individuals in the series. Showing the strength in depth of the group Trafford's C team finished 9th team overall in the series.

 

In the U17 Women's race the Trafford girls looked in good form led by Rachel Bowden (4th), with the team finishing 2nd. Rachel was backed up by Sarah Smith (7th) who finished 6th overall in the league and Beth Stanley (11th).

 

The U17 Men’s race saw Adrian White break away early on to win and lead the Trafford team to a clean sweep of wins in all 5 of the Manchester league xc races this season. Thomas Amaral came through the field for 7th and Tio Austin held on for 11th after struggling with a stitch on the second lap. Trafford's B team of Evan Lewis 15th and Sam Chant 34th lacked a 3rd team member otherwise the B team would also have picked up medals in the series. Individually Fin Dobson Emmas consistent season meant he won the series with Tio Austin finishing joint 2nd.

 

In the Senior Women's race Kate Meeson in 17th just pipped team mate Sarah Hudak 19th and with Zoe Storr 40th and Louise Ambler 54th the team finished 5th on the day and 4th team in the top division. Sarah ended the season 6th individually and 2nd vet 35. Trafford's B team had Amy Cauley (63), Eve Southern (77), Mel Monks (112) and Sue Exon (271) and Trafford’s Vet team were 3rd on the day finishing joint 3rd team in the series again in the top division.

 

The Senior Men's team has been bolstered this season by the U20 runners. Luke Carrington was 3rd junior, Alfie Bundy 5th, Dan Partington 6th and Ceri Basi 8th giving the team another win and securing the U20 Men's title in the series. Alfie Bundy being the top placed Trafford junior finishing 3rd in the series. In the Senior Men's race it was Jordi Evans-Rodriguez in 27th place who lead the team to 8th place, Jordi finishing 13th overall in the series. Behind were Luke Carrington (49), Jeff Prest (58), Simon O’Meara (67), Alfie Bundy (69), Daniel Partington (83) and Ceri Basi (170), with Jeff picking up 2nd place in the v50 series.
