Northern x-county relay victory



The Northern x-country relays take place in Sheffield's Graves Park. It's a short, hilly, fast course great for spectators and the Trafford runners enjoyed the good weather conditions. U11 Boys Henry Ball (5.37) and Ezra Wolfe-Ferguson (5.47) held there own in this level of competition.

 

Trafford's U13 Boys Team finished 18th with Thomas Fotheringham (5.54), Emanuele Calisti (6.01) and Stan Barber (5.55) all running within 7 seconds of each other's time.

 

Trafford had three U15 Boys teams and first leg saw Logan Grocott (7.34) and Sam Ingleby-Castleton (7.32) battling against each other. Thomas Daly (7.39) and Ethan O'Brien (7.53), kept the A and B teams in contention. Oliver Davenport (6.56) then ran the 5th fastest time of the day (fastest time on legs 2 or 3) to move the team up to 7th place. Oscar Bundy (7.46) had an excellent run to move the B team up to 19th place overall and 4th B team. Traffords depth saw the C team, Paddy Widdop (8.44), Joe Bowden (9.20) and Daniel White (8.43) finish 30th overall and 2nd C team only 1 second behind the 1st C team.

 

The U17 Women's team were led off by Sarah Smith having a great run with a time of 9.19. Rachel Bowen (9.17) then moved the team up and Genny Jackson (11.04) brought the team home in 21st place.

 

In the U17 Men's race Adrian White (7.10) and Evan Lewis (7.18) finished 8th and 12th in a loaded first Leg. Tio Austin (6.53) then came through the field to 2nd place recording the 3rd fastest time of the day. Fin Dobson Emmas closed on the leader in the first half of the race then from the top of the final hill moved clear to record the 4th fastest time of the day and a 6 second win. The race for first B team was just as close with Ben Gardner (7.18) moving the team up to 9th overall and into 1st place in the B team race. Ben Keeley ran the teams fastest leg 7.16 to move clear in the B team race finishing 11th overall.

 

In the Senior Women's race Beth Reid (11.23) was part of last year's winning team and made a great start finishing 2nd and recording the 3rd fastest time of the day. Sarah Hudak (12.41) rolled back the years clocking the 7th fastest time on leg 2 to keep the team in 2nd place overall. Rafaelle Ingleby-Castleton (15.10) ran well on the final leg to bring the team home in 11th place.

 

In the Senior Men's 4 stage relay Jay Hutchinson (10.51) made his senior debut and after a steady start pulled through to 21st place out of the 60 teams. Alex Jones (11.43), Jeff Prest (11.34) and Fin Mayoh (11.04) kept the team in 20th place. Trafford's B team saw Dan Partington (12.07) and George Wright (12.34) record good times and Traffords junior 400m runner Louis Arnold made an impressive debut over x-country recording13.25.
