TRAFFORD TRACK STARS IN BBC VAPORFLY REPORT

TRAFFORD TRACK STARS IN BBC VAPORFLY REPORT

When World Athletics decided to take a closer look at NIke's Vaporfly running shoe, it catapulted the issue onto the main BBC News.

The question is this: Does Nike's stacked and carbon plated footwear give the wearer an unfair advantage?
And if it does, how can we all get a slice of that 4% action?

To tell the story, BBC Sports Editor Dan Roan sprinted from MediaCity to Trafford's track faster than Steve Taylor and Gav Tomlinson could get their hands on a pair!

Filmed on the back straight, we watched the BBC's top sports journalist cradle a precious Vaporfly as a random runner loped wearily down the inside lane in a style familiar to anyone who's done of Mike's crushing track sessions.

Seeing our beloved track on the main BBC TV news, prompted a flurry of comments on Mike's Senior Run WhatsApp group:

"Was that Trafford on BBC News??"
"That runner wasn't a good advertisement. Looked like me after 1x300!"
"Hope he paid his 4 quid as a non member"
"Was Karen wearing Vaporflys to catch him?! Unfair advantage if not"
And... "Hope he leaves that shoe in lost property"

If you missed it, Mr Roan kindly tweeted his report from 29 Jan: https://twitter.com/danroan/status/1222967156368953347
