National Cross-Country Relays Report

Heavy rain and deep mud met the Trafford athletes who ventured to Berry Hill Park in Mansfield for the National Cross Country Relays.

Highest placed of our teams were the Under 20 Men who finished 25th out of 59 teams who started. Xav O'Hare travelled up from St Mary's College in London to run a great first leg after a year hampered with injuries. He was followed by Cynog Williams and Jack Wilkinson. The same team (in the same running order) finished 38th in this event 4 years ago as Under 15s.

Trafford Under 17 Men managed to finish 2 teams. Out of 103 teams starting, our A team of Joe Bentall, Bradley Giblin and Jack McNicol finished in a solid 26th place. Not far behind, the B team of Joe Mangan, Alex Bailey and Seb Patrick came home in 42nd place, 3rd B team to finish.

We also had 2 Girls teams taking part.

Out of a massive 122 teams, our Under 15 team of Lila Wainwright, Marina Guardascone and Imogen Davenport finished well in 82nd.

In the Under 13 race, Daisy Atkiss, Martha McCormack and Olivia Holbrook got their first taste of National competition when finishing a fine 59th team.

This coming Saturday  the action moves back to Manchester University Playing Fields at Wythenshawe for the 2nd race in the Manchester Area Cross Country League.
