Trafford Athletes Shine at English Schools 2019

Last weekend saw yet another highly successful and competitive English Schools Track and Field Championships.

Friday saw a lot of the Trafford middle distance athletes run their heats. In very testing blustery conditions, only Sammy Mason qualified to progress to her final.

 

In the Junior girls, 100m Trezeguet Taylor progressed smoothly through her heats (11.87pb) and Semi-final to qualify for Saturday's final.

 

Jerel Livingston had an early start in the qualifying round of the Inter boys Long Jump, from which he qualified for the afternoon's final. In the final, he surpassed all expectations, to win his second English Schools title.

 

Saturday morning started with Sammy's 1500m Inter Girls final, in which she finished 8th.

 

Jack McNicol went in the Inter Boys 3000m and Alex Bailey ran a PB in the Inter Boys 1500m Steeplechase.

 

In Trezeguet's 100m Junior Girls final she was pushed into second place by the narrowest of margins to collect the first of two silver medals, the other was from the 4x100m relay.


Halle (competing for Lancashire) had to wait until after the parade for her High Jump, In a close contest she ended up with a Bronze.

 

Well done to all who qualified and competed in such a prestigious competition
