The club has learnt of the passing of John Corbett, an outstanding youth talent in his day and a regular competitor for the club in the 60s and 70s.

John won the AAA Youths SP and ESAA Inter Boys SP in 1968 finishing with a UK U17 record of 17.91m, and represented GB Juniors in 1969/1970, and AAA Junior indoor champ on 1970 as well as the ESAA Senior Boys title.

He was a colourful character who set up his own company, Rocket Sports, which flourished for a short period.

His last league appearance was in the BAL Qualifier at Bedford in 1992 when he came out of retirement.

He passed away in The Christie.
