UK Fell Relays

Over the last few years Trafford have become one of the strongest junior fell running clubs in England. This summer's England Fell Running Championship saw Trafford finish as the runner up to Helm Hill in the junior championships. On Saturday, for the first time in 25 years the club ran in the premier fell relay race in the UK.  This year's UKA Hill running relay for the top 200 senior teams in the UK took place at Todmenden.

First leg is a solo leg and after turning 18 the day before Evan Lewis started strongly holding on to finish 37th at the end of the 8.7km leg. Alfie Bundy and Luke Carrington took over on leg 2 the pairs leg being nearly 15km long. Handing over to 3rd leg in 46th place. The pair of Joe Daly and Jay Hutchinson were always going to be Trafford's strongest leg as both have represented England on the Fells. This navigation leg was no problem for the pair with the orienteering experience of Joe Daly. They moved quickly through the field to finish 18th and record the 3rd fastest time on the leg only headed by two strong Scottish teams. Josh Watson has had a year out before starting uni at Sheffield but with the pressure of trying to keep the team in the top 20 he exceeded expectations and moved the team further up the field to finish 16th.

This was a great performance, especially as the whole team are aged 18 to 21, the team have an exciting future.
