18 October 2026Northern x-country Relays
Even though it is early in the x-country season Trafford often do well in the Northern x-country relays at Graves park, Sheffield. The good weather and fast underfoot conditions brought out some fast times. Logan O'Neil-Wood (6.26) was the club's only U14 athlete to make the trip over the pennine hills finishing in 35th place on first leg.
Over the slightly longer 2km course for the U16s, Teddy O'Brien (7.11) set the team up in the lead group coming home 12th, Craig Hallinan (7.31) ran well to stay in 14th and Tom Daly (7.18) pulled the team into the top 10. There was good packing in the B team with Stan Barber (7.32), Oscar Bundy (7.42) and Ethan O'Brien (7.39) finishing 20th team and 3rd B team. Youngsters Thomas Fotheringham (7.56) and Joe Bowden (9.24) ran on an incomplete C team.
The U18 2.3km race saw Sarah Smith (9.13) taking on some of the Norths top track runners as she held on well on leg one for 17th. With good runs from Beth Stanley (9.54) and Ava Evans (10.03) they held on to finish 17th. The Men's U18 race is always a close race with Trafford traditionally doing well. Adrian White (7.18) is working his way back to fitness and hung on to the lead group. Ben Gardner (7.08) then charged through to move the team into 3rd place. Arlo Mander-Tullius (6.52) was just too far back to challenge the top 2 teams and had his hands full as the pack closed him down with half a mile to go, but with a burst of speed 200m from the finish he pulled clear of the pack to maintain 3rd place running the 3rd fastest time of the day. Trafford's B team also finished 3rd B team. Ben Dutson (7.35) lacks experience at this level but showed he is not overawed with one of his best run finishing 19th, Ralphie Rome (8.08) continued his come back and bringing the team home in 16th with a strong finish Sam Ingleby-Castleton (8.00).
In the Women's 2 mile race Alice Stiles (12.21) brought the team home on first leg in 6th place, Kate Meeson (13.01) moved the team up to 5th and the youngster in the team Rachel Bowden (14.14) held on for 9th place. The Senior Men's 2 mile relay had several youngsters making their Senior debut. First back was Tio Austin (10.26) finishing strongly to move through to 7th, not far behind was Ismail Hassan (10.43) in 16th. Pio Aron (10.48) then moved the A team up to 11th and on leg 3 Sonny Wilson moved the team to 8th. Fin Dobson Emmas then ran the club's fastest time outsprinting runners to claim 4th place A team. The B team was finished off by Ed Robinson (12.14) running his first race in two years, George Wright (12.30) and Laurence Skidmore (11.23) finishing 21st overall and 4th B team. Also running well in the C team were Joe Bentall (12.28) and Jeff Prest (12.14).
