With the summer track season coming to an end it was straight into winter races with the North West Road Relays at Heaton Park. This event combines several county champs road relays.

First up was the U12 event and Trafford boys had a great start, winning the Greater Manchester championship. Oliver Thompson (8.13) set the team off over the 2.2km course, coming home in 11th overall out of the 39 teams and 2nd out of the Greater Manchester teams. Odhran Nash (8.26) then moved the team up to 8th place overall and closing to only 6 seconds behind the lead team in the Greater Manchester champs. Then with the second fastest run overall Toby O’Brien (7.33) moved the team through to 5th overall and taking the Greater Manchester title.

In the U14 race over a longer 3.3km course, Cora Black (13.57) ran 1st leg finishing 17th out of 43 teams in a loaded first Leg.

In the U16 boys Teddy O’Brien, after a big improvement over 800m this summer, showed he will be a contender in this winters events. Teddy's 11.04 saw him finish 8th overall in a fast first leg. Stan Barber (11.42) the youngster in the team then ran the 4th fastest time on leg 2 to move the team up to 6th and into the lead in the Greater Manchester Champs. Then Rohan Woodbridge (11.17) moved the team up to 4th overall with the 5th fastest time on last leg and confirm the team winning the Greater Manchester championship. Showing that the team will continue to have great strength in depth, Trafford’s B team finished 2nd Greater Manchester team and 11th team overall Oscar Bundy (11.38), Thomas Fotheringham (11.57) and Ethan O'Brien (11.38). Also competing in a Trafford C team Emanuele Calisti ran 13.15 followed by Quinn Harding 13.21.

In the U18 women's race Trafford’s team finished 12th overall but 3rd Greater Manchester A team. Sarah Smith (13.36) started the team off finishing 15th out of the 21 teams. Genny Jackson then ran 17.41 followed by Beth Stanley 14.44.

The Men's U18 got off to a great start with Arlo Mander-Tullius bringing the team home 1st in an impressive 16.21 time over the 5.2km course. Arlo's time was good enough to be Trafford's fastest time of the day. Ben Dutson (18.09) hasn't been running for very long so looks like a real prospect for the future recording the 4th fastest time on leg 2. Then Logan Grocott (18.41) the youngest in the team brought the team home in 4th place with the 6th fastest time on leg 3. Once again the team won the Greater Manchester Championships.

In the senior races the Men's A team just missed out a medal finishing 4th in the Greater Manchester Championships. Jordan Evans Rodriguez (16.54) led the team off over the 5.2km course backed up by Evan Horwell (17.50), Fin Dobson Emmas (17.30) and with the teams fastest leg Sonny Wilson (16.43). After being a Trafford member for over 10 years Sonny has showed great progress in the last few months. Another athlete showing good progress is Luke Carrington and he lead the B team off with another fast time of 16.55.  With Alfie Manser (17.44), Tom Rogers (18.37) and Alfie Bundy (17.24) the team were 24th overall and 3rd Greater Manchester B team out of the 99 teams that started. Also in an incomplete C team ran Dan Partington (17.53), Josh Watson (17.38) and George Wright (19.56).

Trafford’s best Team performance of the day came in the Senior Women's 4x5.2km relay. England International Ava Clough lead the team off finishing 2nd out of the 78 teams that started with the 4th fastest time of the day. Alice Stiles (18.57) held on to 2nd place recording the 7th fastest time on leg 2. Last leg saw Beth Reid (18.22) hold off some of the fastest runners in the race to maintain 2nd place overall and 1st Greater Manchester team.
