Trafford AC is known as one of the countries top Athletic Clubs. You may also know how well the club does in  Cross Country and Road Races. But did you know that this summer Trafford has risen to finish 2nd behind Helm Hill in the Overall Junior (U14 - U20) England Fell Club Championship, from 61 competing clubs. Since 2021 Trafford's junior athletes have been regularly competing in local and National Fell races, with the club finishing 29th in 2021 and 16th in 2022. Since 2023 Trafford has established itself as a top 8 club in England on the fells.

With a great variety in coaches at Trafford the club has always encouraged youngsters to try different events and find what they enjoy and are talented at. Just as there might be a great 800m runner living in the Cumbrian hills there could be a great mountain runner living in the streets of Manchester. Athletes just need the chance to try these events.

In this summer's England championship Thomas Fotheringham had a consistent season finishing 19th overall in the England U14 champs out of 72 athletes as he combined fell races with his track races. Still only 14 Tom Daly is one of the rising stars as he finished 2nd in the U16 Boys England champs. Along with Oscar Bundy and Ethan O'Brien the team finished 3rd. Also bottom of her age group Isolde Powell ran all six championship races in the u16 girls. In the u18 Men's Oliver Davenport gave fell running a try finishing 13th in his first race and English Schools 300m Hurdler Sam Ingleby-castleton showed his versatility running for Greater Manchester in the Inter-Counties Fell Championship where he was 25th. Sam's older sister Rafaela also completed in the U20 women's Greater Manchester team at the Inter-Counties finishing 9th.

It was once again the U20 Men's age group where Trafford athletes showed great strength in depth as they took the team title for the second year in a row. 17 year old Evan Lewis won the first two races in the six race series and was favourite to go on to win the Championship, but an illness mid season cost him, though he still rallied at the end to finish 2nd. Having a much more consistent season Alfie Bundy was a close third and Luke Carrington sixth. Jay Hutchinson chipped in winning two of the races, the Inter-Counties and the England trial races.

With several athletes across all age groups competing this gave the club it's highest ever ranking in the junior club champs.
