There were some excellent individual performances at the Northern Cross Country Championships in Pontefract today. In the women's race Vicki Cronin finished 26th in a race which saw Morpeth's Mhairi MacLennan retain the title in a tight finish. In the men's race Jay Ferns was 32nd in a race won by Emile Caress of Leeds City.

The men's team of Jay (32), Simon O'Meara (91), Matt Sutton (171), Jeff Prest (221), Greg Kelly (291) and Nick Brown finished 16th (ably backed up by Dan Hill (487) and Dan Atkinson (488)). The women's team of Vicki (26), Beth Donnelly (41), Louise Mangan (231) and Sue Exon (297) were 22nd.
