Triple jumper Naomi Ogbeta won the British Indoor Championships on Saturday 17th February in Birmingham.  She trains and competes with Trafford AC in Longford Park, Stretford.

After winning the British Outdoor Championships in the summer of 2017, the national title is an accolade she is becoming familiar with.

Not only did she take the victory however, she also jumped further than ever before, setting a new personal best of 13.65m.  That bettered the mark of second place by a convincing 36cm.

Unfortunately her distance is short of the qualifying standard for the World Indoor Championships in March, also to be held in Birmingham.

Following Trafford AC’s promotion to the athletics Premier League last year, however, there will be plenty of opportunity to mix it with Britain’s best this coming summer.

Meanwhile, Joel Richardson ran an indoor PB of 48.48 in the 400m to finish 5th in his heat.
