Northern League Final Match Report

It was an excellent day of athletics on Saturday 4th August for our final match in Warrington.  Our wonderful officials allowed the event to take place: Sue, Andy, Tom, Jack, Juliet, Gareth and Luisa.

There were glittering debuts from: Grace, Lena, Jack and Lis.

Dazziling PBs from Miles, Kaleb, Lena, Catherine, Lis, Stuart, Grace, Jack and I.

Most importantly there was a really positive vibe, everyone had come to give their preferred event a big effort, many were happy to try unfamilar events for experience and points.

Kerrie, Grace and Lena formed a very strong trio in the throws, as did Dan, Kaleb and Pawlo.  The 400 and 400H men scored maximum points and there was a brilliant finish from Jo to grasp third in the women's 4x400.  Ian Scholes got the scoring off to a great start when he got within a whisker of his season's best with 2.90m in the pole vault.

The Trafford Northern League team have proved themselves very worthy of promotion this season.  We were last in match 1, but second in the three others matches.  Wirral just pipped us in this final match  meaning they and Sale will be promoted and will be replaced by Manchester Harriers & AC and Liverpool Harriers & AC.  Meanwhile Salford Mets are relegated and are replaced by Macclesfield Harriers & AC.  It was the first match, where for various reasons we didn’t have a team manager, that really hindered our chance of going up.
