Club Stars –April 2018

 

Teams

2nd in first match of Upper Youth Development League (UYDL) Northern Premier 2 Division

3rd in first match of LYDL in Northern West 1 Division

Senior Women 37th team in National Road Relays

 

UYDL Match 1

Our highest scorers were the middle distance runners in the U20 Women, including a win from Sammy Mason in the 800 A and 2nd for Rebecca Mason in the B, while the U17 Women won all the middle distance races, with Evie Collier and Jessica Birchall setting PBs in the 3000m.  Lilli Boyle set a PB in the U20 Long Jump, while U17 Ella Marshall set PBs in no less than three events: 100m, Long Jump and Javelin!

 

For the Men,  TJ Simpson (U17) was moving up an age group and therefore throw weights, but still managed to beat his previous bests in the shot, discus and javelin!  Theo Symons-Treacheralso set PBs in the 800m and 1500 steeplechase. In the U20 Men Xav O’Hare (A) and Rushwan Lewis (B) set 400m PBs, finishing 2nd and 1st, respectively.  They then teamed up with George Hurst andSanchez Nguie to win the 4x400m in dramatic fashion.

 

LYDL Match 1

Plenty of top level performances, including, in the U15 boys:

PBs in the 80H, Long Jump and High Jump for Louis M, who then helped the 4x100m team to 2nd along with Samuel B, Charlie M and Elliot J.  Making promising debuts for the club were Louis G and Callum M, both setting discus PBs.

 

For the U15 Girls, Christie Ahad a great day out with PBs in the 200m and 300m.  She then ran in the 2nd place 4x300m team, beside Erin G, Isobel Cand Emily R.  On her debut, Amira Jscored very useful points and set PBs in the Hammer, Shot and Discus.  Halle F set a massive PB in the High Jump with 1.60.

Representing the U13 Boys, James W set PBs in the 200m and 800m, then ran well along with Matthew R, Ethan N and Joseph C to finish 3rd in the 4x100m.  Max L sped to a 100m PB and then powered to a PB in the shot.

 

Over in the U13 Girls, Zara B improved her 75m, 150m,  and Long Jump PBs with excellent performances.  She was then in the 3rd place 4x100m squad with Maya M, Olivia Hand Isabelle B.  Imogen D set impressive PBs in the 800m and shot.

 

Opens

The senior men throwers have been busy with Mike Martin setting a Javelin PB 34.70 and Dan Upton a Discus PB of 37.40.

Jack McNicol moved to top U15 in the North West with a 1500 PB of 4:32.28.

 

Road Running

Matt Berry (Sen) was the bride that ran away with a world record for running a marathon in a wedding dress.  He finished London in 2:55:52!

 

Jeff Prest (Sen) zoomed to 8th fastest stage time at British Masters Road Relays.

 

At the Mid Cheshire 5k, Jack Wilkinson (U17) set a 16.04 PB and Connor Fazakerley (U17) improved his PB to 16.51.

 

Sportshall

 

Issi Band Ellina C (U15s) represented Greater Manchester in the National Sportshall Final.
