Match 2 in this year’s YDL Lower was held in glorious conditions at Longford Park on Saturday. Despite home advantage, the team slipped to a 4th place finish.

There were 38 PB’s on the day with 29 graded performances, so those who are competing are performing well.

As ever, picking out the highlights isn't easy, top 3 placings are mentioned below, but remember that all contribute to the match result and each individual performance is vital to the success of the team.

U13b – The lads continue to do well at what they are good at - Ethan 3rd in 200m (A) 1st 1500m (B); Matthew 1st in 800m (B); James 1st 80m (B); Max 1st 1500m (A).

U13g – A bit thinner on the ground than the last match – Isabelle 3rd 75m (A) and 1st 800m (A); Sophia 3rd 150m (A) and 2nd 1200m (B); Olivia 1st 800m (B) and 3rd Shot (A); Elena 1st 1200m (A); Oliva, Alexandra, Sophia and Isabelle combined with a good second place finish in 4x100m Relay.

U15b – Jerel was making his YDL debut since his recent move to Trafford, and what a debut it was too with wins in 100m (A), 200m (A) and a UK ranking top placing jump to win the Long Jump (A). Jonny and Charlie both did a 300m double with Jonny 3rd 300m(A), Charlie 1st 300m (B) and them both winning their respective heats of the 800m – Jonny (A), Charlie (B); Jack 2nd 1500m (A) and Samuel 1st in the (B). Louis 2nd in hurdles (A), 1st High Jump (A) and 1st in Long Jump(B). Louis McC 2nd in High Jump (B) and 3rd in Shot (B). Louis, Charlie, Elliot and Jerel romped to a 4x100m relay victory while Callum, Louis G, Charlie and Jonny were just piped to second in the 4x300m relay.

U15g – Trezeguet 1st 100m(A); Halle 1st High Jump (A), 2nd LJ(B), 2nd 100m (B); Ellina 2nd 200m (A), 1st Long Jump(A); Christie 2nd 200m (B), 3rd 300m (A); Amelia 2nd 300m (B) 2nd 800m (A); Erin 1st 800m (B); Emily R 2nd 1500m (A), Anna 2nd 1500m (B); Neve 2nd High Jump (B) and 1st Pole vault (A); Amera continues her progress in the throws, 3 PB’s on the day and 3rd Hammer (A), 3rd Javelin (B). Grace, Halle, Ellina and Trezeguet squeezed to a victory in 4x100m relay, while Erin, Amelia, Ellina and Christie were 2nd in 4x300m.

So 38 PB and 29 Graded performances including 6 Grade 1’s.

The next match is Saturday 16th June when we’ll once again have home advantage.
