Northern League Match Three Report

Northern League 3WC, Match 3, Sunday 14th July 2019 Bury

A beautiful summer's day in Bury brought sparkling performances from Trafford's squad in the third (penultimate) Northern League match.  We convincingly stayed ahead of East Cheshire, bettering their score by 90 points on the day, meaning the league table is now:
Bury 18, Trafford 15, East Cheshire 12, Burnley 7, Kendal 6, Border 5

With just one match remaining we are now all but guaranteed promotion to division two (top two teams go up).

Thanks to the officials including: Chris, Amiera, Maryon, Kamil, Jeff, Ryan and Alan.

They oversaw some top efforts in the shot as Greg and Amy chipped in after setting season's bests in their 800s.  Chloe Esegbona made a storming returning to competition as she won the 100mH and then scored very well and even PB'd in the discus and high jump.  Taking over from Chloe H, Chayce and Lis, she anchored the women's 4x400 to victory.

Adam Bellis was triumphant in his final NL outing of 2019 winning the 100 B, 400 A, 4x400 (along with Richard, Ryan and Rush) and part of the second place 4x100 (along with Rush, Stuart and Rivi).  Having achieved similar positions at all three matches, he has played a pivotal role in the team's success.

Miles had a busy day, beginning with the hammer and securing top points in the 400H and 110 hurdles.  He finished off with a PB and 3rd in the javelin B.  Mel and Rachel also took on the javelin, after both improved their 3000m season's bests (Mel by 30s!).

Making her Northern League debut, Ellina went over 5m in the long jump for a PB as Abi Chesworth did the same!  Esam and Adam also debuted, with the former coming a very close second to Miles in the 400H and Adam making a welcome return to sprints.  Meanwhile Molly came within a whisker of her 100m PB on her debut, then ran an excellent first leg as the women won the 4x100m.

Results are now available.  The fourth and final match is Sunday 10th August in Ashton (Richmond Park Stadium).  Please let Simon know if you'd like to compete.
