Lower League Match report – Match 3

Match 3 in this year’s YDL Lower was back on home turf at Longford Park

As ever a big thanks to our officials, Scott, Rachel, Peter, Sue, Graham, Neil, Dave and Kamil– whose contribution not only ensures that the fixture can take place, but also contributed valuable points to the team score which again increased from the previous match. However, we finished second on the day to the Isle of Man.

It is important to remember that everyone is a vital part of the team and every performance goes towards the team total.

We had many top 3 performances, which are mentioned below.

U13g – The girls were dominant on the track with first place finishes in both the A & B races in all track events except hurdles. Jessica 1st in 75m (A), 150m (A) & Hurdles (A); Alexandra (on debut) 1st 75m (B) and 150m (B); Elina 1st in 800m (A); Martha 1st 800m (B); Marissa 1st (A) and Jasmine 1st (B) in 1200m; Amber 2nd in HJ (A) and Eve 3rd (B) in Long Jump; Relay team of Eve, Jessica, Amber and Alexandra 1st in the 4x100m relay. 

U13b – Another team dominant on the track with top two place finishes in all bar Hurdles. Peter was another sprint double as he took 100m (A) and 200m (A); Jay 2nd 100m (B) and 1st 200m (B); James 2nd 800 (A) with Owen 1st in the (B); Charlie was outstanding in winning the 1500m (A) with Jamie taking 2nd in the (B); Kenta 2nd in Hurdles (B); Lucas 3rd LJ (B); Peter & Charlie both finish 3rd in the Shot (A) & (B); Relay team of Lucas; Charlie, Jay and Peter were 2nd in the 4x100m relay. 

U15g –Trezeguet 1st in the 100m (A) and 2nd in 200m (A); Zara 3rd in 200m (B); Millie 2nd in 300m (A); Isabelle 3rd in 800m (A) with Nicola 2nd (B); Isobel 3rd (A) and Lila 1st (B) in 1500m; Amelia (A) and Olivia (B) both 2nd in the Hurdles. In the Field, Halle 1st High Jump (A) and Long Jump (A) – with a massive jump, 3rd in Shot (B); Azan (on debut) 3rd in Long Jump (B); Imogen 1st in Pole Vault (A) homing in on her mums PB. In the relays, a win for Lila, Halle, Zara and Trezeguet in the 4x100 and Amelia, Nicola, Isabelle and Millie were 3rd in the 4x300m.

U15b – Joel 2nd in 200m (A) and 1st High Jump (A); Billy 2nd in 200m (B) and 1st Hurdles (A); Ned 2nd in 300m (B); Louie 1st in High Jump (B) and 1500m (A) with Charlie 3rd in (B); Elliot 2nd in Long Jump (B); Caden 1st (A) in Shot, 2nd (A) in Discus and 3rd (A) Hammer; Seb 2nd (B) in Shot, 1st (B) Discus; Callum 1st Hammer (B). Seb, Billy, Elliot & Joel 2nd in 4x100m relay.

The improved weather helped the performances overall and we finished with 29 graded performances again including 7 of those precious Grade 1’s. 

The next match is an away fixture at Wigan on 20th July – let’s finish off the season with a win and get prompted in style.
