The Greater Manchester Cross-Country Championships was held at Leigh Sports Village on 12th November 2021.

Trafford’s Squad performed well on a tricky and varied course at Leigh including a submerged field that meant that runners were knee deep in water at some points.

The in-form Jack Wilkinson (10th) led Trafford’s 8th placed Senior men. He was backed up with fine runs by Matthew Sutton (16th), Nicholas Brown (54th) and Gary Wolstencroft (71st).

Cynog Williams earned his first County XC championship in winning the U20 mens’ race by over 20 seconds. Following him home were Harry Sinclair in 6th, Alex Bailey in 10th and Seb Patrick in 14th. The team also earned a fantastic silver medal.

The U17 boys team consisting of William Parker (6th), Ned Silvey (9th), Jack Howarth (14th) and Sonny Wilson (15th) together with Jamie Robertson (18th) finished third.

Freya Griffiths continued her fine form to take a bronze medal in the U17 girls’ race.

In the u15 boys Luke Carrington came out on top of a close battle between the Trafford lads. Again with 4 in the top 10 Luke, James Walton and Matt Gardner finished 1st team.

In the girls U15 race Ava Clough made her Trafford debut with an impressive 6th place.

The U13 boys were the stars of the day. With Pio Aron and Evan Lewis finishing 2nd and 3rd and with 6 runners in the top 15, Trafford teams finished 1st and 3rd.

In the U13 girls the team are looking stronger and all improving with 4 in the top 18 led by Rachel Bowden and an impressive run from Ana Coronado.
