Manchester League XC - Race 3 - Junior Report

On a cold, wet and windy day the third Manchester league x-country race took place at Kenworthy Woods.

Girls

In the U11 race Megan Boyer had another good run, again finishing in 2nd.

It was good to see the U15 girls fielding a squad despite being depleted through illness, with first counter Rosie Morello in 39th spot as the team placed 10th. Well done to Diana Talib who was making her debut in a Cross Country race.

The star of the U17 Ladies section was Freya Griffiths with a clear 2nd place.

Boys

In the under 11 boys race Thomas Aron battled through the rain to finish third. He was backed up by youngsters Thomas Daly and Daniel White with the team finishing 6th.

The under 13 boys race saw Pio Aron get his usual strong start, but he fell in the slippy conditions. Battling back into second place he tripped over a tree root and knocked his knee bad enough so he had to retire. The good news was that the rest of the Trafford team were showing at the front of the race in force. The surprise of the day was Tim Ye, running in his first ever club race he not only stayed with the lead group but pushed on in the wind from the group into second place only to be pipped in the last 100m to finished fourth. Tim was closely followed by team mates Ben Keeley and Evan Lewis. The team race is building up nicely with Trafford and Sale neck and neck in every race. The great news is that Trafford's B team have moved into 3rd place overall.

In the u15 boys race Josh Watson continued his strong winter by leading the team of James Walton and Jay Hutchinson.

In the u17 men's race Louie McCormack ran well, backed up by good runs from Ned Silvey and Sonny Wilson, with the team currently in 3rd place overall.
