Sportshall Match Two Report and Sunday November 14th and Sportcity Manchester

Please Note – The third and final match of this Sportshall series is now changed to Sunday January 23rd, not Sunday 16th November as previously planned

In this second match of three, Trafford’s U11s, U13s and U15s continued their indoor athletics season.  The team were grateful for the volunteering of Trafford officials: Sarah Wilde, Rick Gwilt, Jo Fisher, Kamil Winogrodski and Neil Canham.

We welcomed Sportshall debutants Layla Sethi (U11), Keiana Wolfe (U11), Imogen Prescott (U11), Michael Kemp (U11), Joel George (U13) and Patrick Lydon (U13).  The new U11G made an impact early on by combining with Suki Cole to complete an obstacle relay team, who were followed by a win from the U11B obstacle relay squad.

In the U13Gs, there were impressive performances from Sorcia Kajue (2 lap (2nd), standing long jump (1st 2.10 m)), Leddra Siewe (4 lap (4th)) and Harriet Ford (speed bounce score 65) .  For the U15G, Amber Brown gained PBs whilst winning the vertical jump (59 cm), standing long jump, and standing triple jump.  For the U11G Suki Cole was 15th in the speed bounce, Imogen Prescott 16th in the 4 lap, Keina Wolfe 15th in the 1 lap and Layla Sethi 16th in the speed bounce.

Whilst in the boys, the U13s won the team event (as they did in the first match), thanks to particularly good performances from Joel George (speed bounce (score of 61)), Ruben Ilunga (shot (4th 5.40)), Tselot Eshete (2nd in standing triple jump and standing long jump), Barney Watson (9th in vertical jump), George Mackay (7th in 6 lap), Anthony Lee (8th in 2 lap), Phoevos Cassidy (speed bounce score 56) and Patrick Lydon 6th in the shot.  In the U15B Zack Watson was 3rd in the shot and Jamie Anderton was 2nd in the 2 lap.  For the U11B, Michael Kemp was 7th in javelin, Henry Sainsbury 2nd in standing triple jump, Paddy Widdop 7th in standing long jump, Charlie Congdon 10th in 1 lap, Micah Liburd 6th in speed bounce, and Max Colly 12th in vertical jump.  The 4x2 relay squad also won.

The third and final match in the Sportshall series is Sunday January 23rd (11:30-16:00) at the same location (Manchester Regional Indoor Arena, Sportcity).  You can confirm attendance with team manager Simon O’Meara (psymon_omeara@hotmail.com) anytime. For this match we will make an official’s roster to share out the field event officiating more fairly.
